Messi leads Inter Miami to victory over Nashville

United States – Argentine star Lionel Messi scored two goals from Inter Miami’s hat-trick against its guest, Nashville (3-1), allowing his team to retain the lead in the Eastern Conference of the American Football League.

Nashville, ranked 14th and penultimate, opened the scoring two minutes after the starting whistle with friendly fire after Argentine defender Franco Negri accidentally turned the ball into his team’s goal.

Inter Miami failed to keep a clean sheet in each of its last 11 matches, and things could have been worse when Nashville striker Josh Bauer hit the crossbar three minutes later.

Miami responded quickly with a goal from its star Messi, who won the Golden Ball for the best player in the world 8 times, after a pass from his former Barcelona teammate, Uruguayan Luis Suarez (11).

Miami advanced with a goal from a former Barcelona player, Sergio Busquets, who headed Messi’s corner into the net (39), and the latter put his team safely by scoring his second personal goal in the match and Miami’s third from a penalty kick (81).

Messi (36 years old), winner of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, raised his score to nine goals in nine matches he played since the beginning of the current season, while Inter Miami maintained the top spot in the Eastern Conference standings of the American League, with 18 points from 10 stages, two points ahead of New York Red Bull and three ahead of Cincinnati with a game less each.
