At the beginning of the thirtieth minute, Alvarez’s progress, which secured the goal, was fouled by Croatian goalkeeper Livakovic inside the box, and the referee awarded a penalty.

Messi took the penalty kick and scored the ball easily. This is Messi’s fifth goal of the World Cup and his third from the penalty spot.

The second goal was entirely Alvarez’s. Alvarez got the ball from outside the box, tricked two Croatian defenders and beat the goalie Livakovic to reach the box.

Alvarez’s second goal was scored in the 69th minute. Messi paved the way for this goal. The ball received from the half of the right side of the ground was easily passed by the Croatian defenders and Messi gave it to Alvarez. Alvarez finished with ease and the scoreboard read 3-0.

With this win, Argentina looked to avenge their loss in the 2018 group stage. Argentina lost 3-0 to Croatia in the second match of the group stage.
