Finally some good news for Meta on the virtual reality (VR) front. The parent company of Facebook and Instagram, engaged in a difficult pivot towards the metaverse, will finally be able to proceed to the acquisition of Within, which publishes Supernatural, a fitness application in VR at 20 dollars per month. The acquisition of the start-up has so far been blocked by the FTC, the US competition watchdog.
District Judge Edward Davila in San Jose, Calif., denied the FTC’s request for an injunction blocking the proposed merger, reports The Wall Street Journal. The authority will not appeal this court decision, according to AFP. The amount of the acquisition remains unknown.
