Facebook owner Meta Platforms said it will provide researchers with a new “human-like” artificial intelligence model that can analyze and complete images with a higher degree of accuracy than existing models. The company added that the new model (i-JEPA) uses prior knowledge regarding the world to fill in missing parts of images, rather than just looking at nearby components like other generative AI models. She pointed out that this approach includes a kind of human-like thinking, which is supported by the chief scientist of artificial intelligence, Jan Lucan, and helps the technology to avoid common mistakes in images generated by artificial intelligence, such as that the human hand appears with extra fingers.
