"Metal Slug Main Artist Reveals New Game 'Black Finger Jet' - Details, Trailers, and Updates"

A new work being developed by the main artist of Metal Slug has been revealed.

Kohachi Studio, an indie development team in Japan, today (15th) unveiled a new game they are developing, ‘Black Finger Jet’. Kohachi Studio is centered around Shinano Ishiguro, the developer of Marchen Forest, Akio, who was in charge of the main designer and main artist from Metal Slug 1 to 3, Miha, who worked as the main designer together, and the sound of Metal Slug and Super Rtype. It is a development team composed of veteran developers such as Hiya and Ken Esaka who joined as a senior pixel artist.

‘Black Finger Jet’, whose teaser was released with the announcement of the studio’s establishment, is a work being developed as a traditional side-scrolling run & gun genre, as befits a work made by the reunion of the Metal Slug development team. It adopts the 8-way aiming shooting action of those days, starting with a pistol and progressing through the stages, acquiring various firearms such as shotguns and machine guns to clear enemies in the way. Here, the ‘Jet Car’, a special vehicle that often transforms in various ways, was utilized to enhance the taste of breaking through various difficulties.

In the teaser, concept art and illustrations as well as some 3D modeling of major objects such as jet cars were released, and the development team announced that they were developing in 2.5D, a combination of pixel graphics and 3D, through Steam pages and YouTube.

On the other hand, ‘Akio’, one of the key developers, became a hot topic by revealing the behind-the-scenes story and rough sketches of the games he had worked on, including Metal Slug and Rtype, from April 14, and various tools he used at the time. With the release of ‘Black Finger Jet’, he, who turned 60 this year, expressed his feelings through social media, saying, “I am anxious about whether I will be able to meet everyone’s expectations, but old friends are gathering and making a game.”
