Météo France confirms a new heat peak on Monday, peaks of 39°C possible in the South-West

Announced several days ago, a new heat spike has been confirmed Friday by Météo France. “From Sunday, under the influence of a low pressure system […], the weather will become warm again in the south, with peaks at 33-35°C in the South-West”, says the meteorological agency. A “rise of hot air” which is explained by the presence of ex-Hurricane Daniellewhich has become a depression, off the Portuguese coast.

Records broken?

Under a bright sun, Sunday will be more bearable in the north of New Aquitaine (27 to 28°C from Charentes to Dordogne) than in the South. We can thus reach 33°C in Gironde and in Lot-et-Garonne, and up to 35°C inland in Landes and Pyrénées-Atlantiques, the coast being less affected.

During the night from Sunday to Monday, the mercury will struggle to fall and will start to rise again as soon as the sun rises. “The 35°C bar” will be “regularly exceeded between Aquitaine and the west of Midi-Pyrénées”, assures Météo France. On its site, the agency estimates that we could reach 36°C in Pau, Angoulême and Périgueux, 37°C in Bordeaux or Agen, and up to 39°C in Mont-de-Marsan, with possible records beaten.
