MUSICIANS known for their global indie-electronic pop works, Metronomy, today, Friday (26/4), announced their new EP, Posse EP Volume 2, ready to be released on July 12 via the Ninja Tune music label.

Joe Mount, who is the main figure in Metronomy, sits in the producer’s chair to build various musical universes through the five songs on the EP as he brings in a line of new singers to sing on top of his colorful instrumentation.

Along with this announcement, Metronomy also released a new single entitled With Balance (feat. Naima Bock and Joshua Idehen), a ballad with sweet guitar strums, layers of interlocking vocals, and a powerful rap performance from Joshua Idehen.

In the hands of Metronomy, various sounds can be combined in one harmonious harmony. The new single was released with a music video directed and produced by global creative agency Wieden+Kennedy, Immigrant Studio and Wake The Town.

“This video clip is the perfect visualization of the EP Posse ethos,” said Mount. “This video is another side of the collaborative process of making this song and I really like how this project features new artists and fresh ideas. I also like that when I’m not in the video, I can enjoy the video like everyone else others out there.”

On the Posse EP Volume 2 EP, Metronomy also collaborated with Miki, Faux Real, Nourished by Time, Lynks, SPIDER, Master Peace, and TaliaBle.

The Posse EP era began in September 2021 when Metronomy released Volume 1 which presented five songs featuring new musician friends such as Peckham’s Pinty and Biig Piig.

In 2022, Metronomy released the album Small World, which featured Nadeem Din-Gabisi and Katy J Pearson for the remix edition of the album.

EP Posse from Metronomy brings the spirit of continuing to connect with new music while continuing to bring the years of experience they have gained in the world of dance.

“It’s about realizing that we have more value in the music industry,” Mount said.

“For new musicians, we can help them. We have a reach that they don’t have and they are very happy with it. It’s a great way to feel connected to something that I used to miss,” he continued.

The result is a work that is exciting and full of energy for Metronomy and also all of us as listeners.

“The more I collaborate with other people, the more I feel happy to create. For me it’s a way to separate myself from the last 20 years and everything I’ve done. There’s a sense in which I’m proud of all that, but then I must go further,” concluded Mount. (RO/Z-1)
