MIAMI — Jean Segura capped the game with an RBI single, giving the Miami Marlins a 3-2 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Friday.
Cuban Jorge Soler ignited the spark of the winning rally by leading off with a single. Michael Rucker (1-1) hit Luis Arráez and Avisail García before Segura grounded up the middle and with a close frame for the game-winning hit.
AJ Puk (3-0) got three outs for the win. Chicago put two runners on the trails with two out in the top of the ninth, but Nelson Velazquez was forced out at second.
Miami improved to 8-0 in one-run games this season. The Marlins are also 3-0 in their teal jersey.
The Cubs squandered a strong outing from Marcus Stroman, who allowed two runs and six hits in 6 1/3 innings.
