Michelin Star Award Ceremony: Unveiling the Best Restaurants and Chefs in Tours 2024

2023-09-08 05:00:02

The Michelin star award ceremony which rewards the best establishments in the world and their chef will take place in Tours in early 2024 at the Palais des Congrès – Le Vinci.

This is news from France 3: the prestigious Michelin Guide has chosen Touraine to unveil its new starred chefs in 2024. After Cognac (Charente) in 2022, after Strasbourg (Alsace) in 2023, the management of the famous Bottin rouge is pursuing its desire to travel to essential areas of French gastronomy and has therefore chosen Touraine.

Very good news for the department and the metropolis which are already hosting the Irish delegation as part of the Rugby World Cup. Obviously for Tours, international city of gastronomy, classified in 2013 as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity by UNESCO.

But it is also a paradox since the city of Tours has to date no starred restaurant in its town. To go to a starred restaurant near Tours, you have to go on the banks of the Indre in Montbazon to “l’Evidence” whose kitchens are run by Gaëtan Evrad, or even to “l’Opidom” near Fondettes at Jerome Roy. The other stars are located in Amboise (Château de Pray, Arnaud Philippon), Loches (“Arbore & Sens”, Clément Dumont), Azay-le-Rideau (“L’Auberge Pom’Poire”, Bastien Gillet) and finally at Petit-Pressigny (“La Promenade”, Fabrice Dallais).

According to some sources, the announcement could be made on September 18 in Chaumont-sur-Loire, an area owned by none other than the Region. It therefore seems obvious that the region, the metropolis and the town hall of Tours have worked together to convince the management of the Red Guide.

And yet, the department with the most stars in the Center Val de Loire is not Indre-et-Loire but Loir-et-Cher (6 one star, 1 two star with “Fleur de Loire”, Christopher Hay). Undeniably the central location of Tours, accessibility by TGV from Paris and a Palais des Congrès offering a capacity of 3700 seats with its Grand Amphitheater were undoubtedly decisive in the final decision. Contacted, the Michelin Guide did not confirm, infirm.

Known worldwide, the Michelin ceremony reveals the new stars awarded to restaurants from all over the world as well as the tables already starred. Receiving a Michelin star is one of the most prestigious culinary awards for chefs from all over the world. In total, 630 starred restaurants appear in the 2023 Michelin Guide, including 21 establishments in Center Val-de-Loire.
