Some Michigan schools have enacted a backpack ban on students to prevent students from carrying guns to school. This emerges from a report by the US press agency AP on Wednesday.
A Michigan elementary school student was recently discovered to have walked into school with a loaded gun, the report said. This was the fourth time in the school district this year that a student had gone to school with a gun. Three of them carried the firearm in their backpacks. For safety reasons, the school district decided to impose a backpack ban.
As early as May 1, a backpacking ban was implemented in public schools in the city of Flint, Michigan, on the grounds that “across the United States, there has been a dramatic increase in the threat of firearms in all schools,” according to the AP.
