On the occasion of International Women’s Day, which is celebrated every year in March, the Municipality of the Heroic City of Naoussa and the Equality Committee in collaboration with the “Friends of the Aristotle Conservatory” Association present the musical event “Mickey’s Women”, on Sunday, March 26 2023 at 20:00 at the Municipal Theater of Naoussa “Mikis Theodorakis”. Entry is free to the public.
After the great success of their first concert with the Cultural Center of the Central Macedonia Region in March 2022 and the warm response of the audience, the female vocal ensemble “Voci Contra Tempo” presents in Naoussa a unique program – a tribute to the work of Mikis Theodorakis.
On the occasion of the emigration of the late titan of Greek music in September 2021, “Voci Contra Tempo” wanted to highlight the female form in his songs, as it appears in the incomparably beautiful poetry of Kostas Virvos, Iakovos Campanellis, Odysseas Elytis, Yannis Ritsou , Errikos Thalassinos, Yiannis Theodorakis and Nikos Gatsos. The woman-mother, the woman-beloved, the woman-fighter, the Virgin, but also the little girl, the one that nestles in the heart of every woman, young or old, are the main axes of the program, which reminds us that the female form in Miki’s songs she is evident, multi-faceted, glorified, wounded, hopeful, and above all… alive! With a simple but magical piano music accompaniment, the concert is framed by moving texts that shed light on unknown aspects of the history of each song, but also of the women they refer to.
Choral arrangements by Dimitris Karvounis, Thanasis Bililis, Terpsichoris Papastephanou, Nikos Platyrrachos and Sofia Yoldasis will be heard.
