Microsoft brings the power of AI to cyber defense with Security Copilot

Trained in the disciplines of security and networking, and armed with trillions of data signals, the new tool dramatically increases the reach, speed and effectiveness of any security team.

Microsoft today announces its next-generation AI solution for cybersecurity with the launch of Microsoft Security Copilot, which provides security teams with a critical tool to quickly detect and respond to threats, as well as providing a better understanding of the overall threat landscape. Security Copilot will combine the company’s rich threat intelligence background with the company’s industry-leading experience to extend the work of security professionals through an easy-to-use AI assistant.

“Today, the odds remain stacked against cybersecurity professionals. They are often locked in an asymmetrical battle against relentless and sophisticated attackers,” said Vasu Jakkal, Corporate Vice President of Security at Microsoft. “With Security Copilot, we are shifting this balance of power in our favor. The tool is the first and only generative AI security product that allows defenders to move at the speed and scale of AI.”

Security Copilot is designed to work seamlessly with security teams, empowering defenders to better understand what is happening in their environment, gain greater learning from existing intelligence, greater correlation of threat activity, and more informed decision making. and efficient at the speed of the machines.

Simplifying complexity and accelerating responses

In a world with an average of 1,287 password attacks per second, fragmented tools and infrastructure are not enough to deter attackers. And while attacks have increased by 67% over the past 5 years, the security industry has not been able to hire enough cyber risk professionals to keep pace. This has sent defenders into overdrive, looking for well-disguised attacks within an impossibly large volume of expanding network traffic and other signals.

Security Copilot will simplify complexity and extend the capabilities of security teams by summarizing and making sense of threat intelligence, helping professionals to see through the noise of web traffic and identify malicious activity.

The tool will also help security teams detect what others miss, correlating and summarizing attack data, prioritizing incidents and recommending the best course of action to remediate multiple threats in time.

Continuously learning to increase security teams expertise

Security Copilot will also continually learn and improve to ensure security teams are operating with the latest knowledge about attackers, their tactics, techniques and procedures. The product will provide seamless access to the most advanced OpenAI models to support demanding security tasks and applications. Its threat visibility is powered by customer organization security data and Microsoft’s vast threat analysis experience.

These capabilities can empower security teams of any size with the skills and abilities of much larger organizations. Additionally, Security Copilot helps address the cybersecurity skills shortage by filling knowledge gaps and improving workflows, threat actor profiling, and incident reporting across teams.

“Advancing the state of security requires the use of people and technology – human ingenuity combined with the most advanced tools that help apply human knowledge at speed and scale,” quoted Charlie Bell, executive vice president of Security at Microsoft. “With Security Copilot, we are building a future where all defenders are empowered with the tools and technologies they need to make the world a safer place.”

Built on the Microsoft platform and industry-leading threat intelligence

Microsoft is uniquely qualified to help customers exploit and adapt AI to enhance their cybersecurity defenses. Microsoft Security actively tracks more than 50 ransomware groups, more than 250 unique nation-state cybercriminal organizations, and receives 65 trillion threat signals every day. Microsoft technology blocks more than 25 billion password-theft attempts every second, and more than 8,000 security professionals at Microsoft analyze more security signals than almost any other company – on average, analysts at Microsoft’s Security Operations Center Microsoft use over 100 different data sources.

Acquisitions like RiskIQ it’s at Warning provide Microsoft with a breadth of signals and in-depth intelligence about threat actors that no other company has. And Security Copilot also natively integrates with a growing list of Microsoft security products, such as Sentinel and Defender, to help customers create a complete experience that spans their entire security program.
