As with the Tour de France riders, the biggest difficulties seem behind Microsoft, which still has a few steps to reach the finish and complete its mega-acquisition of nearly $70 billion from Activision, a video game giant (Call of Duty, Candy Crush). Announced more than a year and a half ago, the operation cleared antitrust hurdles in nearly 40 countries, including those in the European Union.

In the United States, the FTC (the American competition regulator) has just suspended, at Microsoft’s request, the trial conducted by one of its internal commissions, which was to start on August 2. A break that legally allows the two parties to resume their language with a view to finding an agreement on the XXL takeover disputed by the FTC which will not arrive at the negotiating table in a position of strength. In the United States, the Redmond group won a capital round ten days ago since a Californian federal court, already seized by the FTC, authorized it to swallow Activision.
