Microsoft is providing a fix for bugs that resulted from the recent Windows update

The Windows update that came out last week is failing. It was originally supposed to keep the Windows 11 and 10 operating system up to date, and to make fixes to the Japanese input method editors. However, bugs appeared which caused several inconveniences to many users. The majority were even forced to roll back the update, leaving their system unprotected.

Microsoft has just released a corrective update. It will resolve issues related to VPN connectivity, controller reboots experienced by the Windows server, as well as issues related to removable media mounts. The new update is now available from Microsoft update, or optionally via Windows Update.

What are the inconveniences encountered by users during the first update?

Microsoft users faced several bugs following the first update. Windows Server 2012 stopped working and restarted constantly without providing any solution. On the other hand, customers no longer had access to VPN and some disks changed format and became unusable. Without prompt feedback from Microsoft, users might have believed that their discs were defective.

The new bug turned external drives into ReFS format. A format that was not taken into account by Windows. One of the big issues with the new update is that to fix the problem, you had to go through the one that was failing in order to get access to the patched version, which caused quite a bit of frustration among users.

The latest out of band update is now available

Released since January 18, the Out of Band (OOB) update is now available to all IT administrators. In particular, it will solve connectivity problems as well as major problems related to endless restarts and external removable disks. Users will be able to update their system through Microsoft’s catalog or simply via Windows Server update.

Note that users will need to download the update and install it manually in some cases. Patches are already available in Windows 11 or 10 through the Windows update service on the computer. However, no solution has been provided to fix the Windows Server 2019 issue.
