Microsoft registers the XCLOUD trademark

Microsoft registers the trademark XCLOUD, formerly codenamed Xbox Cloud Gaming. Spotted by user Lumia updatesthis label has been registered by the American firm with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Quite an original appellation, its popularity is still effective today. This was the codename for the Xbox video game streaming service project. Before its official launch, Phil Spencer and his teams had selected players to carry out a large-scale test. As a result, a video message of thanks and the title of “founding member of the xCloud project” for the testers.

Xbox Cloud Gaming is the official brand. But with the deposition made by Microsoft, can we imagine a name change for the service? Or is it just a security measure?
