The Photos app in Windows 11 is the target of a major update. It is offered as part of the Windows Insider program. It is deployed through the DEV and CANARY channels.
Photos is popular software on Windows 11. As the name suggests, this app displays, organizes, and shares photos from different sources. This ranges from a local PC to OneDrive online via iCloud. The update offered by Microsoft brings new features, improvements while fixing several bugs.

One of the highlights is a response to a community request. It is possible to display photos through a “slide show” with transitions, animations and 25 original soundtracks to choose from.
To enjoy it, just click on any photo to start the slideshow or choose several photos to watch them together.
Another novelty is also a response to a request from users. It concerns the timeline scroll bar which is back in the All Photos, OneDrive and iCloud Photos views.
For its part, the “Spot Fix” function offers the automatic removal of imperfections or unwanted areas of the photos.
Native “Auto Enhance” function without the need to download a 93MB add-on and drag and drop is available when importing photos from external devices. Finally to all this is added
- Hidden iCloud Photos will no longer show up in Gallery.
- The bug that caused audio to be disabled by default with video files is fixed,
- Copying and pasting a photo from the Photos app into Outlook and Teams now inserts the default inline image instead of adding an attachment.
- Using the SHIFT key selects multiple consecutive photos from the gallery while the CTRL key selects multiple non-consecutive photos.
