In the United States, the standard Xbox Game Pass monthly fee saw an increase of US$ 1going from US$9.99 to US$10.99, while the most complete option, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, had an increase of US$2, reaching US$16.99 per month instead of the previous US$14 .99.
The website TrueAchievements analyzed the aggregate cost of games added to Xbox Game Pass in 2023, using their individual market prices. Surprisingly, subscribers in the U.S. had access to a library valued at US$8,763 throughout the year. These impressive numbers were also reflected in other regions, such as £7,695 in the UK, CA$11,425 in Canada, A$13,392 in Australia, €8,879 in Europe and R$36,898 in Brazil.
Additionally, the company made a significant change, replacing Xbox Live Gold with Xbox Game Pass Core, offering a narrower selection of games for US$9.99 per month.
The impact of these changes led some users to question the cost-benefit ratio of the service after the adjustments. In the case of the most expensive subscription, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, the annual cost could reach US$203.88. However, evidence suggests that despite price increases, the value offered by the service remains substantially high.
The outlook for 2024 appears even more promising, with the promise of substantial additions to the Xbox Game Pass catalog. In addition to the long-awaited original Microsoft titles, such as Hellblade 2, Avowed, Ara: History Untold and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, the expectation is that older Activision Blizzard games will also join the service over the next year.
