The way he led… He was organized… He was direct with the players… He was well structured. And I still think today that he is one of the best coaches in the National League.
That said, while Waite believes that Babcock did not have “bad intentions” in asking to see personal photos of his men, “yes, it was done the wrong way, yes, it’s a different era, yes, it’s a clash between veterans and young people.
