From yesterday to today, Apple changed the your leadership page adding two new faces to your front line team.
The first is Mike Fenger, who actually has held the position of vice president of worldwide sales at the company for a long time and could have been on this page sooner. He has probably gained more importance in the company with the recent departure of Doug Beck, who was also a VP of Sales.
Mike oversees Apple’s global product sales, and his team plays an important role in helping customers discover the products they love. Since joining Apple in 2008, he has also played a key role in strengthening telecommunications and consumer electronics retailer partnerships and deepening connections with customers in business, education and government. He began his career at Apple as Vice President of Global iPhone Sales, where he led the expansion of iPhone distribution to customers around the world.
The other addition was more awaited: Carol Surface, the new director of people (human resources, or HR) at Maçã. We’ve known about her entry since early February, when it was revealed that she would be taking over parts of the responsibilities that were still in the lap of Senior Vice President of Retail Deirdre O’Brien.
As the leader of the People team, Carol supports the connection, development and care of Apple employees around the world. Her team oversees functions such as talent development and Apple University, recruiting, employee relations and experience, benefits, compensation, and inclusion and diversity.
Carol joined Apple in 2023 from Medtronic, where she spent nearly 10 years as Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer. Prior to that, she served as Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at Best Buy. Previously, Carol also held a series of leadership roles in international human resources at PepsiCo with headquarters in New York, Hong Kong and Dubai.
Both report directly to the CEO Tim Cook.
