Milan Lucic’s Potential Homecoming: Free Agent Market and Boston Bruins Options

Veteran Milan Lucic will test the free agent market on Saturday and among the options that are easy to think about is a homecoming with the Boston Bruins.

Winner of the Stanley Cup in the spring of 2011 in the black and yellow uniform, the 35-year-old hockey player keeps the door open to signing with the organization for which he played from 2007 to 2015. Having played the last four campaigns with the Calgary Flames, he got permission to talk to other organizations. If the Vancouver Canucks, formation of his hometown, are a possibility, Boston represents one, but more sentimental.

“Certainly, it is a special place for me and it will always hold a special place in my eyes,” he told The Athletic website.

However, there is more than the heart that will determine what happens next. More logical factors will have to be carefully analyzed.

“The main issue is how am I going to frame [dans la future formation]. What will my role be? How will the coach use me? Who am I going to play with? These are all aspects to address. If it all works out well, I’ll be happy to get to the rink and if it does, I’ll perform better and to my full potential,” commented Lucic.

He scored 19 points in 77 games last season and averaged $6 million a year during his now-expired seven-year contract.
