President Javier Miley participated this afternoon in a debate on “the future of the ideas of freedom” at Paseo La Plaza, on Corrientes Avenue at 1600, and gave an interview within the framework of the event promoted by Ayn Rand Center Latin America.

The President spoke at 4:30 p.m. in the Pablo Neruda Room, on the aforementioned Paseo La Plaza, closing the first day of the Ayn Rand Con 2024.

During the meeting held by the Ayn Rand Center Latin America, an organization that proposes an “objectivist philosophy”, the President gave an interview to the head of the institution, María Marty, and He referred to both the adjustment and the vast economic reform plan which he launched from the beginning of the mandate.

“We did not just stop at making the biggest adjustment in history. We also sent the largest structural reform program in the history of humanity because we sent a thousand reforms… A third of them were by the DNU and two thirds were in the Bases Law,” the president reviewed during the dialogue with the CEO of Ayn Rand Center Latin America.

“If all these structural reforms were in force, Argentina would improve 90 places in the ranking of economic freedom. That is, Argentina would become like Germany. That is, in 20 years we could become a country like Germany. However, that seems insufficient to me. I am aspiring to look like Switzerland, look like Ireland…Why Ireland? Because it is the country with the greatest freedom in the world and has a GDP per capita 50 percent higher than that of the United States, that is the north,” Milei continued.

During his speech, there was no shortage of criticism of the opposition: the head of state stressed that during the parliamentary treatment of the Omnibus Law “the jobs appeared” (in reference to trust funds) and that several deputies who were in favor of the change, in reality wanted to “maintain their privileges”, according to the President.

“The same thing happened with the DNU. A DNU was never turned over to a president”Javier Milei slipped.

In that sense, the president reaffirmed his anti-political stance. “We continue to govern and advance despite politics”Milei indicated.

The event will extend over the weekend with the participation of national and international intellectuals, who will focus on determining “what are the ideas that make certain countries work, progress and grow; what are the principles, ideas and people who constitute the true engine of the world; what is the fundamental role that entrepreneurs and businessmen carry out in our societies; and what is the positive impact that a good philosophy can have on the future of a country and its inhabitants.”
