Last summer, an 18-year-old young man riding a bicycle collided with a car on a steep spot in Auvernier. The cyclist had broken his left collarbone. Guilty of having driven at an inappropriate speed, like the motorist, the cyclist will however pay 220 francs less than the latter.

The reason? “In setting the fine, account will be taken of the fact that the defendant fractured his collarbone as a result of this accident, so that it can be considered that he has already been partly punished for this offense “, can we read in the penal order. The unfortunate cyclist was fined 130 francs and got off with paying 246 francs in case costs.

The prosecution did not show the same leniency towards the driver involved in this collision. According to another criminal order, the motorist was punished with a fine of 350 francs. He too had to pay 246 francs for the costs of the case.
