“Minimum 20 years of career to receive the pension at 1,500 euros”: the president of the Open VLD wants to “reward people who work”

This Friday, Egbert Lachaert, president of the Open VLD was the guest of Fabrice Grosfilley in the morning of Bel RTL.

Egbert Lachaert returned to several points including the major issue of pensions, still at the heart of many debates in the federal government. For him, it is important that people who have worked during their life are rewarded compared to those who have been unemployed their entire career.

Do not punish people who work, but motivate them. For me, it seems unthinkable that someone who has worked all his life has the same pension as someone who has never worked.“, explains the chairman of Prime Minister Alexander De Croo’s party.

At the heart of the negotiations that will be on the table on Saturday, the minimum pension. For Egbert Lachaert, it’s clear: the pension at 1,500 euros is okay for the Open VLD, but for people who have worked for a minimum of 20 years. The Socialists were counting more on 10 years.

Take part-time into account

Many women work part-time, and Egbert Lachaert intends to take this into account. “It’s a decent review. In Belgium, women as well as men, many work 4 days out of 7. There, it is different, of course that we will take it into account. For these people, other proposals are on the table and will be analyzed.s”.

The president of the Flemish Liberal Party also returned to the stormy discussions that took place in the chamber. Indeed, to try to re-solder the links of the government, Alexander De Croo organizes a barbecue at his place, this evening. “VSI’m sure that the atmosphere is not at the top right now, we hope that this meal will be able to ease tensions and get everyone moving forward“.

Will the Vivaldi alliance still be there by the end of the year?“, then asks Fabrice Grosfilley. Egbert Lachaert remains confident.”Yes, because in such difficult times, leaving the ship would not be good for anyone“.
