This time, we will introduce a 3.15-inch palm-sized Ryzen 7 6800U from Minisforum, which has released many mini PCs…

Ryzen 7 7840U is a chipset often used in portable gaming PCs, and is a high-spec mobile CPU that can play many games at FHD or lower resolution.

This machine is currently available on the Minisforum official store. This pageThe 32GB/512GB SSD version is on sale for 99,180 yen instead of the usual 123,980 yen. You can select up to 1TB.

Although it is palm-sized like the image below, you can also replace the storage.

Let’s take a look!

Appearance and specs

First of all, the included items are as below. In addition to the main unit, it includes a USB-C charger, USB-C to C cable, HDMI cable, wired LAN adapter, and manuals.

The USB-C charger is GaN, and although it is small as shown below, it has a high output of 65W.

When the wired LAN adapter is inserted into the USB-C port of the main unit, it can be used as two ports: wired LAN and USB-C. ↓

The manual is also available in Japanese.

The main body, including the top, is covered with exhaust holes and ports as shown below.

As for the specs, it consists of an 8-core 16-thread Ryzen 7 7840U, Radeon 780M GPU, 32GB LPDDR5-6400MHz RAM, 512GB/1TB M.2 2230 PCIe4.0 SSD, and Windows 11 Home.

The size is 80x80x43mm, and communication supports Wi-Fi6E and Bluetooth 5.3.

Video output is possible from HDMI2.1 and USB-C at 4k@144Hz and 8k@60Hz, respectively.

On the front, there is a USB 4.0 Type-C, 3.5mm earphone jack, and power button as shown below.

On the back are USB3.2 Gen2 Type-A x2, USB4.0 Type-C, HDMI2.1 x1.

Despite its small size, there are plenty of ports.

At the top, you can see the fan hole as shown below. The Minisforum logo is also engraved.

There are intake holes and 4 rubber feet on the bottom as shown below.

The actual weight was 238g. It feels about as heavy as a large smartphone.

storage replacement

The rubber feet on the bottom are double-sided tape, so by removing them and removing the four screws with a Phillips screwdriver, you can easily access the inside as shown below.

It comes with an M.2 2230 SSD, which can be replaced. RAM is onboard.

The SSD was a Kingston PCIe Gen4 1TB.

The measured values of CrystalDiskMark are as below. Both reading and writing are quite fast.

Not only small but also cheap as a Ryzen 7 7840U equipped machine

This machine is impressive in its small size, but it is equipped with Ryzen 7 7840U and has quite high performance, storage can be replaced, and there are many ports, so it is a model with many attractive features that go beyond its small size.

Since it is small, it does generate a lot of heat, but the fan noise is not too loud.

Since it generates heat, I think it would be better to use a slightly larger casing for purposes such as playing games, but for other purposes it should be comfortable to use.

Since it can be powered and output to an external display via USB-C, it will make your desk area much cleaner.

So, if you are looking for a small PC with high specs, please check it out!
