Minister of Economy Bruno Le Maire Deports Himself from ADP over Family Ties: Latest Updates and Impact on Aéroports de Paris Group

The Minister of the Economy, Bruno Le Maire, will deport himself from subjects related to ADP because of “family ties” with the CEO of the airport group Augustin de Romanet, we learned Monday from concordant sources. This deportation is “the usual procedure as soon as there are family ties between the minister and Mr. de Romanet”, indicated Bercy and ADP to AFP.

“The Minister of the Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty does not know of acts of any kind relating to the ADP group” and “the corresponding powers are exercised by the Prime Minister”, is it specified in a decree published in the Official Journal on Saturday.

According to a message posted on Twitter (renamed X) by Politico journalist Paul de Villepin, this relocation is linked to the marriage between Sibylle, Bruno Le Maire’s sister, and Augustin de Romanet. During his first five-year term, Emmanuel Macron had decided to privatize the Aéroports de Paris group (50.6% owned by the French state), before the operation was postponed following the Covid crisis.

ADP manages a total of 25 airports in the world, directly or via subsidiaries, in particular the two major Parisian platforms Orly and Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle. Coming out of the red a year ago after the plunge due to the health crisis, ADP generated a net profit (group share) of 516 million euros in 2022, returning to 80.9% of its 2019 passengers.
