Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, confirmed that a ministerial committee was formed to discuss the crisis of player Ahmed Bagdouda’s escape from the camp of the wrestling team’s delegation in Tunisia, during his participation in the activities of the African Championship.
The minister revealed that the Wrestling Federation had been referred to the Public Prosecution regarding the federation’s responsibility and the circumstances that led to the player’s escape in this way.
Sobhy explained that this phenomenon existed in greater proportions previously, but it has decreased a lot, according to a well-studied approach and full awareness of the players, with the provision of sponsorship contracts for the champions.
The Minister of Sports thanked President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for his support and support for all Egyptian athletes, his constant support for Egyptian sports, and motivating permanent champions, which does not happen in other countries very often, indicating that the president’s support contributed to increasing the number of champions and the occurrence of a major boom in achievements, continentally and globally.
Addressing the sports heroes, Sobhi said: You are appreciated and the sponsorship programs for you are proceeding in a professional, scientific and sustainable manner.
The Minister of Sports welcomed every institution or private sector that participates in the sponsorship or social responsibility of athletes.
He revealed that measures had already been taken through the ministry’s coordination with sports federations, saying: “We have institutions that have contributed to the champions’ sponsorship programs, as well as companies that we established through the private sector to manage the champion players professionally.”
He added: The national project for youth, talent and the Olympic champion is a sustainable and future project that we developed in coordination with the administrative oversight, education and sports federations.
He continued: We appreciate the role of the military institution and its role in sponsoring individual games, and the same applies to the Ministry of Education and its role in spreading sports schools, referring to the establishment of the first private sports school in cooperation with the ministry and the private sector.
The minister revealed that there is support for planning programs and federations’ budgets in accordance with their coordination with the Scientific Committee and the concerned departments of the ministry, as a budget of one billion and one hundred million pounds was approved to prepare for the Paris Olympics from 2021 to 2024, as well as the ministry’s support for sports missions, indicating that the year 2022 witnessed only 900 foreign sports mission.
The minister praised the heroic athletes who rejected external temptations, and we appreciate this matter, explaining that there are awareness programs for the heroes in loyalty and belonging in cooperation with the Nasser Military Academy.
