Vienna – Gender has been handled very differently in the Austrian administration; there are no uniform rules. Most ministries have their own guidelines for gender-appropriate language. There are no legal consequences for non-compliance with the very different requirements. There are also no uniform requirements for the use of gender-appropriate language in the education sector.
