Last Monday, Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, held a press conference to announce indicators and statistics for the results of the secondary school exams for the academic year 2022/2023.

At the beginning of the meeting, the minister said: “This day we are waiting for from year to year, as it is an important day for students and parents after a year and a great effort.” Parents to trust their children and support their choices to achieve excellence.

The minister thanked the parties that participated with the Ministry of Education in the work of the general secondary exams, in addition to the large team from the Ministry of Education, including Legal Affairs, the Central Department of Security, Operations Rooms, the National Center for Examinations, the General Administration of Examinations, the Central Administration of Technology, the Department of Information and Administrative Affairs, and the gentlemen of the directors of educational directorates and observers For their efforts during the examination period, especially with the presence of a large number of students taking examinations, the number of which reached about 800 thousand students at the level of the Republic, which resulted in performing the examinations in a systematic, integrated and decent manner.

Dr. Reda Hegazy stressed that the media is an integral part of the educational process, pointing out that education is a community issue. He thanked the media professionals for their cooperation with the Ministry to serve the educational process.

The minister pointed out that this year’s exams were prepared by withdrawing exams from question banks and forming a committee of experts to review the accuracy of the questions and their conformity with the specifications, as well as forming a committee of 10 experts to adopt the answer form in order to achieve equal opportunities and ensure that every student gets his full right, noting To the Ministry, it has taken many strict measures to confront fraud, including equipping high school examination committees with surveillance cameras to monitor any fraud attempts or violations, and preventing transfers for any student in the third secondary grade between schools within the administration and between departments, and some within the directorate or between directorates, except after referring to the Central Committee. The problem is with the General Administration of Secondary Education, in addition to changing the heads of the committees on a daily basis in order to ensure absolute transparency. The ministry was also keen to place a barcode above and below the question and answer papers, and correct electronically with matching and correcting some papers manually to ensure the extreme accuracy of the correction this year, indicating that it will be Making this year’s exam papers and answer forms available on the Ministry’s website for high school students to benefit from.

The minister explained that most of the violations reported by the General Department of Legal Affairs were related to the possession of modern devices (phone – smart headset…) with a total of 479 silver, and others related to fraud and publishing on social media with a total of 142 cases, and cases related to teachers with a total number of 199 violating teachers, indicating All legal measures have been taken in this regard.

The minister reviewed the performance indicators of students for the general secondary exams 2022/2023, as the number of applicants reached 763,206, those present were 759,676, those who passed were 598,723 and the success rate was 78.81%. According to the literary section, 78.74%, the scientific section, mathematics, 78.78%, and the scientific section, 78.62%.

The minister also reviewed success indicators according to the quality of schools for the past and current academic years, indicating that the general percentage of success for the current year is 78.81% compared to 74.5% for last year, and in general secondary schools it reached 84.0% this year compared to 78.0 for last year, and reached 88.6% for the current year. In formal schools, languages, compared to 81.6% last year, and for private schools (Ma’an), the percentage of success this year reached 90.4% compared to 74.5%, and the percentage for private schools with tuition fees reached 70.0% for the current year compared to 66.8% for last year. With regard to private schools for languages, the percentage reached 91.5% for the current year compared to 86.0% for the previous year, and the percentage of success for homes and services reached 52.0% for the current year compared to 40.1% for the last year.

Dr. Reda Hijazi explained that the number of students who obtained the high end according to the subjects came as follows: Arabic language 4049, the first foreign language 6131, the second foreign language 159703, chemistry 38715, biology 17313, geology 16851, physics 13985, applied sports 4683, geography 18956, and science. The minister also reviewed the percentage of success for the current year compared to previous years since the implementation of the bubble sheet system, as the success rate for the academic year 2022/2023 was 78.81%, compared to 74.47% for the year 2021/2022, and 73.64% for the year 2020/2021.

The minister added that the percentage of successful students according to the division since the implementation of the Babylon Sheet system for the current year compared to previous years, as the success rate for the scientific division of science reached 78.62% for the academic year 2022/2023, compared to 77.14% for the year 2021/2022, and 75.87% for the year 2020/2021. The success rate for the scientific section, mathematics, was 79.78% for the academic year 2022/2023, compared to 81.1% for the year 2021/2022, and 76.04% for the year 2020/2021. The success rate for the literary section was 78.74% for the academic year 2022/2023, compared to 68.38. % for the year 2021/2022, and 70.13% for the year 2020/2021.

The success rate for the scientific section of mathematics reached 79.78% for the academic year 2022/2023 compared to 81.1% for the year 2021/2022, and 76.04% for the year 2020/2021. The success rate for the literary section reached 78.74% for the academic year 2022/2023 compared to 68.38%. for the year 2021/2022, and 70.13% for the year 2020/2021.

During the press conference, the Minister announced that the process of grievances against the high school results will start on Thursday, corresponding to August 3, 2023, for a period of 15 days, provided that the submission is electronic on the Ministry’s website.

At the end of the conference, Dr. Reda Hegazy honored the first general secondary students 2023 and awarded them certificates of appreciation, stressing his keenness to honor the first students in appreciation and motivation to continue their excellence and success in their university education.

The minister also conducted a dialogue with the seniors, directing them to give advice to their colleagues for their excellence in the study, as they stressed the need to set goals, study, diligence, and organize time.
