Ministry of Foreign Affairs Provides Emergency Support for Emirati Travelers Abroad

ABU DHABI, 6th July, 2020 (WAM) — During the blessed Eid Al-Adha holiday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs received 3,600 calls and dealt with 91 emergency reports that were registered through the emergency system designated for citizens of the country abroad, 45% of which are for moderate medical conditions, stressing the importance of the Emirati traveler obtaining appropriate health insurance. Before traveling and possessing a sufficient quantity of medicines, according to an authorized medical prescription, for the period that suffices him until he returns to the land of the country.
Bushra Al Matrooshi, Director of the Citizens Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that the ministry receives emergency communications from citizens outside the country through the emergency line designated for them. Where it is entered into a digital system that is designed to comply with the requirements and nature of the communications submitted, and ensures that the communication is registered with a reference number that reaches the citizen via a text message that enables him to follow it up until it is closed, adding that through the system all developments related to the communication are updated until it is confirmed that it has been received. Al Matrooshi added that the follow-up and quality control team at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs communicates with all those submitting emergency communications after its closure, in order to assess their satisfaction with the Ministry’s response to the communication, in addition to taking notes received from the customer, with the aim of developing a system for dealing with emergency communications for citizens of the country abroad.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed on citizens the need to ensure the validity of the passport before leaving the country, so that it is not less than 6 months, and to keep an electronic copy of the official documents of the traveler, in addition to keeping the original official documents in a safe place, and to choose the appropriate housing that meets the conditions of security and safety.
The Ministry clarified the most important instructions to be followed to avoid exposure to theft and assault incidents, which are avoiding going out individually, especially at late night times, not exaggerating in appearance and wearing valuables that attract attention in public places, and not carrying large sums of money while traveling and replacing them with credit cards. And the need to arrive at the airport at least 3 hours before the departure time of the flight in order not to miss it, pointing out that it is better to book direct flights to the intended destination, and make sure to book one ticket that contains transit destinations and not separate them into different tickets, in case Book a transit ticket.
The Ministry urged the Emirati traveler to register in the “My presence” service through the website (www.mofa.gov.ae) or the smart application (UAEMOFA), calling on all citizens of the country who are abroad not to hesitate to call the number (0097180024) in case they are exposed For any emergency, the Ministry’s call center at (0097180044444) in case of inquiries and application for services.
