Ministry of Health and Population’s Mental Health and Addiction Hotline receives over 6,000 inquiries in 3 months

The Ministry of Health and Population announced that it received 6,468 inquiries via the hotline 16328 of the General Secretariat for Mental Health and Addiction Treatment, within 3 months.

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, explained that the hotline services have been strengthened to quickly respond to inquiries related to the services provided in psychiatric hospitals, and to support community awareness and psychological support to help all segments of society overcome any crises.

Abdul Ghaffar pointed out that the hotline team includes a doctor, social worker, or psychologist, divided into a basic team and a volunteer team, working 24 hours a day, pointing to training on psychological first aid for a group of medical personnel.

Dr. Manen Abdel Maqsoud noted that the hotline’s work team was qualified and developed through several training courses in coordination between the Emergency and Psychological Support Unit of the General Secretariat of Mental Health and Addiction Treatment, out of belief in the importance of mental health and the role of the General Secretariat of Mental Health in psychological support for male and female survivors, coinciding with Events in the Gaza Strip.
