Ministry of Industry to further control exports to Russia… Listed as ‘worried traders’ such as the Russian Ministry of Defense

[이코노뉴스=이종수 기자] As the government recognized South Korea as an exception from the application of the FDPR, a US sanctions measure against Russia, it began to take additional export control measures.

According to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy on the 4th, following the previously announced policy to block export of strategic goods, the government decided to list 49 companies designated by the US, including the Russian Ministry of Defense, on the list of 300 “concerned traders”.

Earlier, the government announced that along with the US decision to exempt Korea from FDPR, additional export control measures at a level similar to that of the international community, including the US, would be initiated.

FDPR is a sanction clause that allows products manufactured in a third country to be exported to Russia after obtaining permission from the US Department of Commerce if they use US technology and software. FDPR was applied to 57 technologies in 7 fields including semiconductors, information communication, sensors, lasers, marine, and aerospace.

Countries exempt from FDPR can export if they obtain a license from their own government other than the United States. On the same day, the United States included Korea as a country exempt from FDPR.
