Ministry of Justice Simplifies Marriage Documentation for Foreigners: South Sinai Branch Now Open

The Ministry of Justice has facilitated documentation steps and procedures marriage of foreigners By opening the South Sinai office in Sharm El-Sheikh, which is the third branch of the documentation offices that provide this service.

After the opening of the new branch, there are three headquarters: the Cairo Documentation Office located in the Ministry of Justice, the Alexandria branch, and the South Sinai branch.

As for the required procedures and conditions, they were identified as follows:

The age of the husband and wife should not be less than 18 years.

The age difference between the spouses is appropriate and it is assumed that the age difference does not exceed 25 years.

Bring two witnesses of justice.

The presence of a translator from the notary’s office in case the foreigner does not speak Arabic.

The residence of the foreigner must be touristic or temporary, other than for the purpose of tourism, by stamping the passport from the Passports Authority in Abbasiya.

Documents and papers required for documentation:

1- A certificate from the embassy to which the foreign party belongs, stating his marital status, age, religion, profession, income and residence address, in the event that a foreigner marries an Egyptian woman or an Egyptian man marries a foreigner, and a certificate of no objection to marriage.

2- A medical examination certificate from any health office for both husband and wife.

3- Bring 5 recent personal photos.

Documents required for translation of marriage contracts:

1- A copy of the national identity card or any other personal proof of the applicant.

2- An official certified copy of the document to be translated following it has been approved and stamped with the Secretary General’s seal and the prescribed fees have been paid for that.

10 pounds only for the general secretary fee.

3- Receipt of payment of translation fees.
