An official source revealed the truth about what was circulated regarding a proposal to study changing the name of the Ministry of Manpower to the “Ministry of Labor”, similar to its counterparts in the rest of the Arab countries.
The source confirmed to Masrawy, today, Saturday, that the proposal is correct and there is a trend and discussions taking place during these days on the ground to change the name of the ministry to the “Ministry of Labor”, and this will have an Arab and international reaction because this is in line with international and Arab agreements.
He added that the procedures for implementing the proposal are being discussed with the authorities concerned with the work file to change the name of the “Ministry”, but the main and legal issues in this file have not been completed yet, and no final decision has been taken in this regard, and once it is completed, approval to change the name will be announced soon.
And the source continued: The current name “manpower” means workers only, while the proposed name “Ministry of Labor” is a broader and more comprehensive word, meaning work, workers and business owners, “the three production personnel” and everything related to the work file, which confirms the idea of consolidating social dialogue between individuals and owners. business and production.
The source pointed out that supporters of this term stress that “work” expands the concept of the ministry’s work, since the Ministry of Manpower means workers only, while work means everyone and is considered compliance with international labor standards, according to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s assurances in his recent speech during the Labor Day celebration. Pointing out that there is no ministry in the world called “manpower” other than Egypt, and all of them are called work.
The source noted that the Ministry of Labor in a number of countries is a sovereign ministry, and the expected new name expands the activity and scope of its work, and at the same time comes in compliance with international standards and in response to the President’s directives.
