The young volleyball player, the only professional athlete among the applicants, told us details of her beginnings in the world of volleyball, her professional career, her foray into the catwalks and more details of her personal life.
FLAVIA AND HER BEGINNINGS IN VOLLEYBALL
Flavia Montes She is only 21 years old but since she was 13 she has been immersed in the world of volleyball. As she revealed to us, she started in the preselection and at first she did not want to be a volleyball player. “I practiced sports but I liked water sports, I practiced swimming, paddle, surfing, but there were some inconveniences. I had two that were very strong. He dropped the board on my head and gave me the beginnings of pneumonia. My mom, for taking care of me, asked me if we could investigate more sports to see what I liked, we tried some tennis classes and it was terrible “, said the young athlete.
It was at that moment that, with the support of his mother who also played volleyball when he was young, he decided to try his luck at an academy owned by a friend of his mother. “I was there for two days and the pre-selection coach, Kike Briceño approached me and asked me if I wanted to participate in the pre-selection. I told him yes because I thought it was a very good idea, to be able to have contact with players who already had much more experience than me. It was quite strong, all the girls already had a career and I was just starting, ” he said to Trome.
FLAVIA MONTES: THEY HID ME FROM MAN BOK PARK IN THE BATHROOM
Flavia Montes recalled an anecdote from her beginnings in volleyball and revealed that her coach hid her in the bathroom every time the deceased Man Bok Park He arrived to choose the young women who had to abandon the pre-selection.
“The teacher Man Bok Park, may he rest in peace, sometimes he would go to see the training sessions, he would arrive and select the students so that they would no longer continue. My teacher and trainer, Kike Briceño, opted for me because of my size and the desire I always put into it and I would hide in the bathroom every hour that Professor Man Bok Park was there because in fact he would see that I was inexperienced and lacking so much that he would most likely take me off. So I would hide in the bathroom until the teacher left and then I would stay with the coach for a few more hours to train and when I got home I would do reception and defense with my mom, little things to level myself up”, revealed Flavia Montes.

The young candidate for Miss Peru told us that he is currently studying the third cycle of the career of Nutrition because you would like to help other athletes to become high performance athletes. And despite the effort of studying and training, he assures that he loves the sport.
“It is what I love with all my life, it is something that has given me many opportunities, it has opened many doors for me and it has made me meet wonderful people who remain in my heart and have marked a lot in my life”she said excitedly.
In that sense, she recognized that studying, training and being a candidate for Miss Peru at the same time is a strong and sacrificial experience, although she likes challenges. “She is being super strong and self-sacrificing, but I think that today women can do many more things. You don’t just have to focus on one and that’s the message I want to give to the other girlsthat they can do many things as long as you love and perform well in what you do and put a lot of effort and punch into it”, Indian.
FLAVIA MONTES FULL OF AWARDS
Flavia Montes told us that she has been champion of the National Volleyball League four times, in addition, she has been ‘Best Central’ twice, in 2015 and 2016, in two South American internationals. “We have championed until I was 17, being the first champions in South America. Now we are starting again because we have had a very strong crisis in volleyball economically, so we are starting. All the girls are eager to learn and for volleyball to be recognized again here in Peru”revealed for Trome.

The young candidate assured that it was never in her plans to participate in the Miss Peru because he felt that he had to put 100% of his efforts into volleyball, although he later changed his mind. “I was focused on being champion in this year’s league and that’s how it was. They gave us a break and when they asked me if I was interested I said why not? to try and find out how it is and if I like it for the future. So I spoke with the organization and they convinced me of how nice and sacrificed it was going to be and as an athlete for me the challenges are wonderful, this is another challenge for my life”, said Flavia Montes.
In this sense, he assured that he has never performed in the world of catwalks before and the change from athlete to model was very strong. “From wearing sneakers all my life to wearing heels was a pretty strong radical change,” the volleyball player limited.
In addition, she said that at the beginning it was difficult to make her mother and grandmother understand that she wanted to be a candidate for Miss Peru. “It was tedious to make them understand that the being a queen is not only physical, having a pretty face, but it is being an intelligent woman, with values, a woman who can reach more people and teach them good things about her. They realized that this was how it was and now my mom walks up and down with me, she helps me buy my heels, dresses, she goes to my activations ”, She added pleased with the support of her family.
