Young woman Jane Deepika Garrett won the title of Miss Universe Nepal 2023, becoming the first overweight contestant in history to win a beauty contest.
Jane competed for the title with 20 contestants, and was able to snatch the title from them, earning the admiration of the jury members, and she will represent her country at the Miss World crowning ceremony.
“As a woman who does not meet certain beauty standards, I am here to represent curvy, overweight, and hormonal women. I believe that there is not just one type of beauty standard, but every woman is beautiful as she is,” Jane said.
She believed that “beauty transcends one mold. Every woman possesses an innate and unique beauty.”
