Mission accomplished: The steel volleys got the treble

As in the previous year, the Oberbank Steelvolleys Linz/Steg wrapped up the championship on April 27th, and the opponent was identical. The Upper Austrians, led by top scorer Sophie Maass (20 points), decided the fourth women’s final in Vienna against the former series champion Sokol/Post after 101 minutes with 3:1 (25:18, 23:25, 25:20, 25:16) and won the best-of-5 series 3:1.

Now it’s time to celebrate, the favorites kept their nerve and deservedly won their fourth league title. The latter is a fine farewell gift for coach Facundo Morando, who will move to the Argentine national team in the summer.

“We are overjoyed. It certainly wasn’t our best game, but we fought and stuck together,” said captain Lisa-Marie Hager about the treble of Supercup, Cup and Championship.
