Even SYRIZA, which is asking for double elections, is not asking for them to become a government, but to rebalance the parties and for the “Kasselakis party” to register more than 17%. The oxymoron becomes even greater if one takes into account that the ND, which is the party of stability and governability, has no other opponent than itself.
Polls
All the opinion polls – published and “hidden” – conducted after the three-day battle in the Parliament for Tempi, do not dispute her comfortable dominance, by a large margin from the second party. However, the government seems to be being tested by “Murphy’s Law”. After Tempi, which, it seems, did not end with the motion of no confidence, the murder of 28-year-old Kyriaki outside the Agioi Anargyro Police Station occurred, which threatens to become “the Tempi of EL.AS.”.
Faced with these facts, the government is organizing its counterattack. Everything shows that K. Mitsotakis “will take over” the election campaign of the ND. A program of tours and rallies of the Prime Minister almost all over the country is almost ready. And it is not at all accidental that the return to the speech of K. Mitsotakis of the characterization of the N.D. – apart from a constant reformist force – as an “expression of the popular party”.
Just as it is no coincidence that he disliked his speech at the party Congress about the need to strengthen “a broad reformist current”, which has its roots in the “We Stay Europe” movement. Which was the starting point for the destabilization of populism and toxicity, but also for the political upheaval of 2019 and the double electoral triumph of 2023. But it will also be the answer to the activism of the opposition, which seeks to instrumentalize tragedies, trade of human suffering and the transformation of public life into a Roman arena.
New start
It is obvious that the prime minister, having realized the mistakes and omissions of the government’s second term, seeks to “clean up” the horizon for the three years following the European elections. This effort, which tends to “change everything” and become a governmental restart after the European elections, presupposes a good electoral result. That is, a percentage close to and above the 33% that the ND had taken. in the European elections of 2019. The realization of a major reshuffle after June 9, according to information, has almost been discounted in the bosom of M. Maximos. Allies of K. Mitsotakis in this effort are:
1 The need for stability and not the regression that society wants. Which in a very large majority (over 62%) does not want double elections.
2 The almost complete lack of competition in the field of applied politics and programmatic-reform superiority over the fragmented or even non-existent politics of the opposition parties.
3 His obvious superiority in suitability for prime minister, which he has over St. Kasselakis and N. Androulakis.
4 The “civil war” between SYRIZA and PASOK for second place.

Problems
Obstacles are the sense of “transition” that has been created in M. Maximos after the departure of G. Bratakou and St. Papastavrou and the creation of a climate of questioning of the state. There is also a problem with the backbone of the N.D. which is the middle class. Figures processed by government officials show signs of discontent among sections of the middle class.
“Battle” with pathogens and accuracy
In the 65 days remaining for the European elections, the ND will prioritize:
1 The radical conflict with the chronic pathologies of the state,
2 The daily life of the citizens, with axes mainly the accuracy and intensity of the controls and the continuation of the imposition of large fines for dirty money. Combined with the continuous and permanent income support of employees. The priorities remain safety-public order, Health and Education.
3 The implementation of government commitments, which have been legislated but not implemented, such as the evaluation. The beginning is made by replacing the principals of schools, middle schools and high schools who refuse to take part in the teacher evaluation process or with their attitude obstruct the evaluation process.
The rallying call of the faction, made by K. Mitsotakis from Zappeio, has recipients also inside the N.D. and outside the party, i.e. in its electoral base. Its aim is primarily the “couch” and the silent protest through abstinence.
The entire blue ballot for the European elections is expected to be announced within the week. According to information, the candidacy of Fr. Beleri is very close to being “locked” and there is “one more name”, which is handled personally by the prime minister. The final touches on the ballot are expected to have geographic criteria as well. The information speaks of strengthening the presence of candidates from Northern Greece, where the Hellenic Solution claims to be the second or third party. Thessaly, which was hit by Daniel, but also farmers are expected to have a prominent position on the European ballot.
