One is confident that by 2030 such vaccines could be used to fight cancer and other diseases.
According to the Guardian, Paul Burton, Moderna’s Chief Medical Officer, promised: “We will be able to offer personalized cancer vaccines to people around the world.” This could potentially save the lives of “hundreds of thousands” of people.
Since the introduction of corona vaccines, mRNA technology has also played an important role in cancer research. This is intended to stimulate the immune system to recognize and destroy cancer cells in the body.
There have already been some successes in research into mRNA therapies against malignant melanoma. The new vaccines are not intended to replace existing cancer therapies, but to supplement them.
