UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan arrived in Istanbul, on Saturday, at the head of a senior government delegation on an official visit to Turkey, which is also scheduled to witness his attendance at the final match of the European Champions League, which will be held at Ataturk Stadium.
The agency said that Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed will discuss, during the visit, strengthening strategic relations with Turkey “and advancing the comprehensive economic partnership that brings the two countries together.”
Among the Emirati officials who accompanied the Emirati president, Vice President Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Special Affairs Advisor at the Presidential Court, Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan.
On the other hand, Al-Hurra correspondent reported that Erdogan and Mohammed bin Zayed will watch together in Istanbul the final match of the European Championship between Manchester City, owned by Abu Dhabi, and Inter Milan, Italy.
Relations between the two countries witnessed tension after the blockade imposed by Saudi Arabia and other countries, including the UAE, on Qatar, Ankara’s closest ally, and it lasted from mid-2017 until early 2021.
However, relations between the two countries witnessed a remarkable improvement after the visit of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, who was then Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, in November 2021, during which he revealed investments worth $10 billion in Turkey.
This is the first visit by a senior Emirati official to Turkey since 2012.
