“Mom, where are the lights?” Girardota will not have Christmas lights this 2022

In a 58-second video, which took more than one by surprise, the mayor of Girardota, Diego Agudeloannounced that his municipality will not have Christmas lighting this 2022. The justification, basically, is that the resources must be prioritized in the completion of sports works and attention to the winter wave.

The mayor commented that the decision was made by his government after a complete analysis of the municipality’s finances. He accepted that the sports venues that are built have had difficulties and that is why it is necessary to prioritize resources.

According to the president, the decision was also made taking into account that by 2023 a slowdown in the global economy is expected. “I hope the understanding of all of you, the accompaniment and trust”, said the mayor at the end of the video.

What is striking is that the decision is communicated just 8 days before the beginning of December. The other municipalities in the metropolitan area are already dedicated to the assembly of their lighting. In fact, Envigado turned them on on November 11.

The announcement was shared with the media, but has not yet been published on the municipality’s social networks.

Other municipalities in the metropolitan area are already lining up to see their Christmas lights turned on. Bello and Itagüí will do it on November 25. A day later La Estrella will do it and by the 27th it will be Sabaneta.

The December dawn call will be used by Copacabana and Caldas to do the same with your Christmas. The first will turn on the lights on November 30, while those of Caldas will be on December 1.

The last ones to see their lights on will be Medellin and Barbosa, They plan to put on a show for the Day of the Little Candles, on December 7.

In an article published on November 18, EL COLOMBIANO asked the 10 municipalities of the metropolitan area for the day their lights were turned on. The only one who did not respond to the request was Girardota, now we know why.
