The WHO says hygiene and safe sex can help prevent the spread of monkey pox. Monkey pox is caused by an orthopox virus belonging to the Pox viridae family. The virus, which was found among monkeys in Central Africa, began to spread to humans in the 1980s. The main symptoms of monkey pox are rashes on the skin, pimples on the face and genitals, fever and unbearable cold. Symptoms of monkey pox are similar to those of smallpox.
