It is expected that the Friday sermon on March 17th will address the issue of forbidding the monopoly of commodities and price manipulation.

This comes after the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs in Morocco called on all representatives of Islamic affairs to unify the sermon in order to address the issue of monopoly and price manipulation.

In this context, the Ministry of Awqaf sent a memorandum to the delegates calling on them to circulate the sermon while urging mosque preachers to adhere to it and not to act in it.

This, and the sermon will include hadiths and Quranic verses calling for cooperation between people and the exchange of benefits, as well as an explicit legal prohibition regarding monopolizing goods and waiting for them until the prices are high, which is something that the Prophet, peace be upon him, forbade when he said: “Only a sinner can monopolize.”

It should be noted that this sermon comes at the height of the high-price crisis in Morocco, which weakens the purchasing power of people with limited incomes, at a time when the government confirms that it is working to mitigate the escalation of prices for consumer goods, especially vegetables and fruits.
