Nothing stops Sébastien Loeb, and certainly not age. At 47, the nine-time world rally champion won the Monte-Carlo World Cup stage this Sunday, beating Sébastien Ogier after a suspenseful final. With this feat, Loeb becomes the oldest driver to win a World Cup round, his 80th in his entire career.
On the lookout behind Ogier after the penultimate day on Saturday, Loeb and his co-driver Isabelle Galmiche were able to take advantage in their Ford Puma of the failures of his opponent, first victim of a puncture on the penultimate special , before taking a ten-second penalty for a stolen start in the last.
It’s the first win for Loeb – now on and off in World Cup events – since Rally Catalunya in 2018.
