The Monte-Carlo Spring of Arts invites all young people under 25 free of charge for its 40th edition. A way to introduce classical music and its variations to as many people as possible.

The Monte-Carlo Spring Arts Festival, scheduled from March 13 to April 7, is offering free tickets for its 40th edition. Those under 25 will be able to attend the shows without paying a single euro.

This was announced by Bruno Mantovani, artistic director of the festival, during a presentation to the press this Friday, February 23: “All you have to do is book on the site for as many concerts as you want.”

The event offers more than twenty concerts in classic venues or unusual places in Monaco and the surrounding area, but also master classes and meetings with the artists before and/or after the concerts.

The former director of the Paris Conservatory quickly justified this choice. “Last night (Thursday, Editor’s note), I was conducting a concert in Cannes. There wasn’t a single young person in the room. They think that classical music is too expensive, when in general, it’s is cheaper than a football match”he regretted.

“The government of Monaco prefers audacity to profitability”also rejoiced this conductor, former director of the Paris Conservatory.

The theme of this 40th edition is that of “song of the world. The programming gives pride of place to the relationship with the earth, through classical music, but also jazz, traditional music and a mixture of genres. The organization has posted a preview of what awaits the public on a listening platform.

For 3 years, Bruno Mantovani has directed the artistic part of this festival. In a video posted online on January 25, he details his intentions for this new edition.

The dialogue between eras and styles is also on the program. The work of Camille de Saint-Saëns, Le Carnival des Animaux, written in 1886, will be revisited this year by The Amazing Keystone Big Banga jazz group which accompanied, for example, the singer Dee Dee Bridgewater for a series of concerts a few months ago, in tribute to Ella Fitzgerald.

Other moments are also planned, such as a “musical nap 2.0 for flute and quadraphonic electronics” will invite spectators to hover on deckchairs. A “dinner with music” will combine dishes, wines and musical pieces.

For those over 25, you will have to pay between 20 and 40 euros to attend these different shows.
