Monte-Carlo: Ugo Humbert, the last Frenchman, eliminated in the quarter-final

This time it’s over. The beautiful story of Ugo Humbert ended this Friday evening against Casper Ruud. Messin, who, before this edition, had never won a match in Monte-Carlo in the final draw, managed to reach the quarter-finals, but he was eliminated this Friday evening by the Norwegian, world number 10 and double finalist at Roland-Garros.

The only French seed (n°14) held up well but ended up giving in in three sets (6-3, 4-6, 6-1). It was the first time that a Frenchman reached the quarter-finals in Monte-Carlo since Richard Gasquet in 2018.

The semi-finals will therefore pit Stefanos Tsitsipas against Jannik Sinner this Saturday from 1:30 p.m., then Novak Djokovic against Casper Ruud.
