Montpellier Metropolis Implements Ban on Crit’Air 4 Cars: What You Need to Know

2023-12-31 02:51:23

From this Monday January 1st, Crit’Air 4 cars are no longer welcome in part of the municipalities of the Montpellier Metropolis. It is the progressive implementation of the ZFE, the low emission zone.

This involves gradually excluding the most polluting vehicles. From Monday therefore, these are and diesel vehicles registered before 2006 and gasoline vehicles registered before 1997 who no longer have the right to travel. This concerns all professional and private vehicles, cars, utility vehicles, buses, heavy goods vehicles.

This ban applies 11 municipalities in the Metropolis : Montpellier of course but also Castelnau-le-Lez, Clapiers,
Grabels, Jacou, Juvignac, Lattes, Le Crès, Montpellier, Pérols, Saint-Jean-de-Védas and Villeneuve-lès-Maguelone. In two years, all municipalities in the Metropolis will be subject to this ban.

Controls must be put in place by the State, therefore by the national police, to our knowledge this is far from being a priority.

let’s remember that the Crit’Air sticker is obligatory on your car if you have been driving or parking in the Montpellier Metropolis for a year and a half, it can be obtained online and only costs a few euros, but again, fines are not on the agenda.
