Montpellier: Saturday, museums work overtime

The establishments offer various night-time activities during the European Night of Museums.

Stop relying on museum closing times. Enter the place to simply enjoy the works on display or participate in the events offered there: this is possible during the European Night of Museums, which takes place this Saturday, May 14, from nightfall until 11 p.m. In Montpellier, five places welcome you at night. Everyone goes there with their exceptional programming.

Accustomed to the demonstration, the Fabre museum highlights numerous guided tours from 8 p.m. to 10:40 p.m. The Friends of the Fabre Museum offer tours dedicated to families for 7-12 year olds. A workshop takes you on a stroll through landscapes from the 17th to the 21st centuries (7:45 p.m., 8:40 p.m., 9:45 p.m., 10:40 p.m.). Various board games around the works of the museum are also available. Of course, access is free to the permanent collections and to the brand new exhibition “Louis Gauffier’s trip to Italy”.

To the Chapel of Mercy, a treasure hunt “In search of the lost remedy” awaits you all evening. At the Museum of Old Montpellier, three themed guided tours (8 p.m., 8:45 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.) await you.

Au MO.CO, the evening until 11 p.m. is divided between guided tours of the “Trans(m)issions” exhibition. The experience of sharing, of activities to share with the family and of dancing. Indeed, the work of Mathilde Monnier being honored in one of the rooms, Corinne Garcia will perform excerpts from “In your hair” and “Publique”, two plays from Montpellier (7 p.m. and 9 p.m.).

What if the most festive evening was at livingstones ? There are the unusual tours of the exhibition Molière: from the canvas to the stage (7:15 p.m., 8 p.m., 8:45 p.m., 9:30 p.m. and 10:45 p.m.), or “Years 20”, which presents documents from archives on the period of the Roaring Twenties in the Hérault, is freely accessible. On the program: the Lattara archaeological site – Henri-Prades museum in Lattes offers a role-playing game, a Gallic mythology show (9 p.m. and 10:15 p.m.) and the exhibitions are free of charge from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.; At the Paul-Soyris archaeological museum in Murviel-lès-Montpellier, 6-12 year olds can visit the exhibition “Where does our alphabet come from?”, tracing the invention of the alphabet from Egyptian hieroglyphics (6 p.m. to 11 p.m. h).
