Montreal Canadiens Acquire Filip Cederqvist from Buffalo Sabers in Trade

The Montreal Canadiens announced that they had acquired the services of Buffalo Sabers forward Filip Cederqvist through a trade on Thursday.

In return, New York State training will receive future considerations.

Cederqvist was a fifth-round pick of the Sabers (143rd overall) in 2019. He spent the majority of his career in Sweden, notably with Djurgarden, where he had 14 goals and 18 assists for 32 points in 49 matches in 2021-2022.

The 23-year-old left winger made the jump to North America last season with the Sabres’ farm club, the Rochester Americans, in the American League.

This season, he posted a goal and three assists for four points in 19 games. Cederqvist never played a game in the National Hockey League.
