The Montreal Canadiens cut four players before starting their preparatory schedule.

Thus, attackers Cédrick Guindon and Florian Xhekaj and goalkeepers Quentin Miller and Jan Spunar will return to their junior team.

Guindon will join Owen Sound, Ontario. Xhekaj will head to Hamilton, Miller to Quebec to join the Remparts while Spunar returns to Portland.

Miller was in action for 20 Remparts games last season. He had a goals against average of 2.11 and an efficiency rate of .911. The 18-year-old goalkeeper was named 128th overall in the last draft.

Aged 19, Guindon was selected in the fourth round of the 2022 draft. Last season with Owen Sound, he had 22 goals and 69 points in 68 games.

For his part, Xhekaj scored 13 goals and had 12 assists in 68 games with the Bulldogs in 2022-2023. He was also chosen by CH in the fourth round.

Spunar is 19 years old. He posted a 2.61 GAA with the Winterhawks last season.

Now for the preparatory matches and there will be four next week. Monday, the Devils will be in Montreal, and among the young Habs, we should see Reinbacher and Mailloux in action. Slafkovsky, Roy and Farrell.
