Montreal North Residential Building Arson Attack: Investigation Underway

Montreal police are investigating an arson attack caused by a Molotov cocktail thrown at a residential building in Montreal North on the night of Sunday to Monday.

It was around 2:20 a.m. that the Montreal Police Department was alerted to the start of a fire in the apartment of a building located on Dagenais Street, near Matte Avenue.

When the police arrived on the scene, firefighters from the Montreal Fire Department were already in the process of bringing the situation under control, thus preventing the fire from spreading.

The occupants of the building had to be evacuated as a preventive measure, but no one was injured, said Jean-Pierre Brabant, adding that the damage was minor.

After checking, the firefighters found a Molotov cocktail on the spot, which pleads for the criminal nature of this fire, it was mentioned.

The investigation has been transferred to the SPVM’s arson section, which will have to analyze the scene during the day to try to determine the circumstances of the event.
